music online collaboration
Basically same question: Has anyone experience with the fork and #collaboration features on #bandlab?
Thanks. Even though I searched for a while I didn't come accross wikiloops. I often find it hard to estimate (without creating an account) if websites have an active user base and are still maintained. The idea of music collaboration via the internet is old and it felt like there are many portals around that once had great ideas but never reached the critical mass of users.
I think the first two big areas of the net were music and porn. Then, when bandwidth and HTML grew, photography. Not any niche can be found.
Music Match seems to be project from a brand awareness company. It looks great but in my first visit I found bugs I'll have to report. The design is modern, and I listened to a few things, I'm not sure if it's worth messing with. I like to look at everything, though, thanks for mentioning it!
@pianoforte Well, here's something interesting. The bug that the profile page doesn't save my instruments. It's caused by a script on facebook.net.
I checked the page (musicmatch) also with an account. They show no timestamps anywhere so you cannot really find out if some upload has been made just recently or a year ago (incrementing ids may help). That alone is stil ok but the pricing is ridiculous. They plan on charging you $5/month after exceeding single digit(!) number of uploads.
I'm now lurking on bandlab which seems quite busy. Haven't set up my taste bubble yet but it's very lively.
@pianoforte I don't like wikiloops, but it's probably the better place to explore and share because it's totally donation funded with no business model. Sure, it's an antiquated web site, unlike the slick Musicmatch, but Mm has way too much spaghetti on the wall and see if it sticks logic, if you know what I mean. "Maybe there's money in this?" seems to be the model. And the connect to Facebook? Shady, at best.
